Trev's Fishing Trips With Tim
Braxted 23rd June 2009
Today Tim & Trev had planned a day at Blunts Mere , but due to the poor Oxygen levels the Mere was closed until further notice so a change of venue was needed & not wanting an easy option Trev & Tim decided to give Braxted a try. It was very hard to get a bite but Tim managed some nice Rudd & a New Personal Best Tench of 5lb-2oz on worm (well done Tim) after a good few hours on the Resovoir they decided a move was in order to the Front Lake, Trev had a new Personal best Bream of 7lb on a Source Boilie & a few nice roach on the waggler & Tim had several nice Rudd & some Roach. This is not an easy fishery & we won't be in a hurry to return soon.....
Blunt's Mere
Monday 16th June 2008
Today was the first day of the old fishing season,, & when Trev & Tim arrived at the car park at 7am they were both surprised that there were only 2 other cars parked, They both had some nice fish & lost a couple of beauties at the net, modest as they are Trev & Tim chose not to take too many photo's on this session but enjoyed the day catching instead, notable fish were a Crucian carp to Tim of 2lb-7oz & a Common Carp of 11lb-3oz to Trev & a nice Tench to Tim, they fished until 3pm on a lovely dry sunny day,,,,
Back Lake / Renee's Pool Boreham
Saturday 10th May 2008
Today promised to be a very hot day with the temperature reaching the mid seventies, what a change from the stormy winter piking days on our last outings in March, when we arrived we were the only two anglers on the back lake & we were able to fish in our favorite swims & caught plenty of mirror & Common carp & Tim had the odd Rudd fishing on his pole, after a few hours on the back lake we moved to Renee's Pool & tried it out till we left at 5pm,, apart from Tim catching a few Rudd on half a worm the place seemed that it was baron, although a guy fishing the 1st swim had a Bream & was expecting to catch some Tench in a weedy spot,, still a nice day to start the new season.
Blunts/Cants Mere 26th September 2007
We fished the Island swim at Blunts for 4 hours & Trev Caught one nice Carp of about 10lbs, but this was the only bite of the morning so we decided that we wanted to get some action so we loaded up the barrows & headed for Cants, due to the high winds & with the prospect of another soaking in the afternoon we decided to go to the very end of the lake where few people seem to fish. It proved a good move as carp fed from the very first cast & we caught quality fish including 3 doubles, best a common to Trev at 14lb-2oz & yes we had torrential rain & gale force winds but also some sunshine,, Dave is fast losing his reputation as 'The Rain Maker'.. This maybe the last of the carp fishing for a while as The Pike Season is fast approaching....
Dawn's Vale 24th September 2007
This trip was long awaited for Tim who was fired up to tackle the potential record Crucians, as soon as we arrived the Heavens opened & the worst wind & rain we have ever had greeted us, it was a slow start with only a single small carp caught by Trev in 4 hours, when the rain stopped at 12 noon we moved to the other side of the lake & fished until 6pm & bagged up with some huge Crucians (?) at 5lbs-8oz & 4lbs-10oz and some nicely marked Commons & Mirrors,,, Dave you must try this lake out next summer, (something to look forward to)
Back Lake Boreham 1st September 2007
After a long break Tim was back in style armed with a new Pole & he took to fishing it like a Duck to Water catching fish from the first cast, Tim also demonstrated the dangers of using the pole float see photo below, we both caught carp to about 5lb during the afternoon session & tim also had some nice Roach & Rudd, at about 7pm the fish were under our feet & Trev got broken up 3 times before putting a nice fish of about 10lb on the bank, we left at 8pm as darkness fell wishing we had more fishing time left as usual,,
Tufnel Mere 23rd July 2007
With the weather forecast for heavy rain by midday we started out with little optimism, But as soon as the first rod was cast the fish kept coming Tim really bagged up on a shoal of Bream an odd Tench & of course, Carp,, Trev had many Carp including a double & the rain kept off until about 5pm! Best baits were Sweetcorn & Halibut Pellets...
Blunts Mere 11th July 2007
Arriving at 7-15am we headed for our favorite swims where we had previously had some nice fish,, from his first cast Tim started to catch on his new wonder bait (Jelly pellets) he went on to land a 12lb plus carp on 3lb line & his float rod (well done Tim), another highlight of the day was that Tim caught a new Personal best Tench at 4lb-1oz. Other notable fish of the day included two lovely Crucian Carp both exactly 2lb for Tim & Carp of 13lb plus, Trev started to bag up after a slow start & had several double figure Carp the best being exactly 16lb...his best baits were Halibut pellet Wraps
The Back Lake Boreham
Saturday 26th May 2007
Today was the first trip out for Trev with Tim since 14th March and it proved to be a really nice day, we arrived early and fished from 6-30am & last cast at 6pm, We caught Roach, Rudd, Tench (sorry Tim caught a Tench) Mirror Carp, Common Carp,& Crucian Carp, the Back lake seemed to be neglected by club members (we were the only ones fishing there) due to the lure of monster Carp from Boreham Main Mere, as many anglers were in their Bivies,, anyway having caught fish all day 'then we spoke to the Bailiff & a few other members we were informed that the lake held a 28lb Carp, both Trev & Tim believed that they had hooked & lost him twice at least each during the day, So we think Dave should pay a visit to show us how to catch him, This was a really pleasant place to fish for a variety of species & always with the chance of a biggie !
Cant's Mere 14th March 2007
We arrived at the water at 1-30pm due to fishing the morning at The River Chelmer at Ulting (see Pikers Club report for the same date) The weather was getting quite hot & the car park was nearly full & everyone seemed to be on Cant's & hardly anyone on Blunt's, we walked round the lake with our barrows only to find our favorite swims vacant on the point, so we raced off at speed to secure it,Trev fished in the swim that Tim & Dave usually have for a change, the fishing was top notch & we caught from first cast until after sunset the biggest fish being a common of 10lb-8oz on worm for Trev from the margins, at the end of the day our arms were aching & we Can't wait to return next season....
Cant's Mere 10th January 2007
After a hard day yesterday at Boreham Mere Piking, Tim & Trev planned a day carp fishing at Cant's Mere as the weather was still mild and both anglers thought that the fish may still be willing to feed ,, they were not disappointed, from the very first cast the fishing was unbelievable for the the time of year,, we estimated that we must have caught at least 100 fish ! most were around the 4lb-5lb mark with quite a few about 8lb+ the carp were feeding well on bread on the float, and Pineapple & Tangerine boilies on the ledger rigs,, Tim caught many Carp on the surface using Bread Crust,, we rated this day as one of our most productive ever !
The River Stour Sudbury 18th December 2006
We arrived at about 9-45am and fished smelt dead baits & it wasn't long before Tim was into the first fish of the day although not a monster it still put up quite a fight, after a couple more hours we moved swims a little further upstream to where Trev & Dave had had a good few fish on the 1st December the move paid off ,Tim had a slightly bigger Pike & Trev had a couple of fish at 8lb & 9lb conditions were Foggy Temp 5© & no wind, we fished to 4-15pm until it was dark.
Blunts Mere 27th September 2006
Another Great Day Bagging up, Trev's Hydro Paste & Tim's 22mm Halibut Pellets done the Trick.
Blunts Mere 18th August 2006
This is a challenging water to say the least but Tim fancied his luck & it paid off, Tim caught several nice Rudd to start things off followed by Crucian Carp, Perch, some lovely Tench & Common Carp. Trev's catches included Perch, Carp, Rudd & Tench, Tim also lost a couple of very large Carp that picked up his small Rudd/Crucian baits, and at the end of the day both anglers went home very contented. A few snaps of the day including one of a fellow angler named Bill in a swim next to us who thought he had caught his first twenty but sadly was only about 18 Pounds.
Cants Mere 9th June 2006
A Very Hot Day
